The Sea
We are on vacation for the first time since he was two. We are staying in a beautiful tropical place, watching his skin recover after a harsh, treacherous winter in upstate New York. His skin had been bleeding from the cold; now, in this paradise, it is softening and his eyes are brighter. We are all more relaxed and happier. Yes, the trip is only a few days, but the fact that he is feeling less pain, his skin feels smoother, and he’s smiling makes it all worthwhile - an almost four-hour flight that brought us fun and small adventures, plenty of fresh food, and time to swim in the ocean. The rip currents were strong, but he was up for the challenge. Lucas played in the sand, jumped into the surf, and later swam in the pool; we even rode horses that trotted through the water like in the movies. How fortunate we feel to be here in such a paradise @naturacabana in the Dominican Republic. I’ve been enjoying myself so much in these two days and already look forward to the yoga classes tomorrow. My son is loving the food and the fresh air - my mother says his skin is healing quickly from the iodine in the sea. Whatever the reason, it’s a blessing. Day three is tomorrow; what a wonderful opportunity to be here, making memories and finding rest and healing.
