About the Author

Mabel is a graphic designer, author, illustrator, and mother whose life took an unexpected turn when her son began struggling with severe psoriasis. What started as small skin changes soon became something much more difficult to navigate. Her son experienced not only painful skin lesions but also physical discomfort, abdominal pain, and the emotional challenges that often accompany chronic illness.

Like many parents, Mabel found herself searching for answers. She spent countless hours researching treatments, meeting with doctors, exploring new approaches, and trying to understand how to support her child best. There were moments of uncertainty, fear, and exhaustion. As both a mother and a creative, she felt stuck—desperate to find relief for her son and meaning in the experience.

After nearly eight years of navigating psoriasis as a family, Mabel decided to begin sharing their journey. Through her blog and storytelling, she reflects on the lessons, challenges, and moments of resilience they have experienced along the way. Her work combines her creative background as a designer and illustrator with her deeply personal perspective as a mother.

Through honesty, vulnerability, and compassion, Mabel and her son are opening a window into their family’s experience with psoriasis. Their goal is to offer hope, practical insight, and emotional support to others facing similar challenges. By sharing their story, they hope to build a community where families feel less alone and more empowered to navigate chronic illness together.

"Healing is a matter of time, but it is sometimes also a matter of opportunity."
